Willow Glen Ace Hardware Announces Donation to Willow Glen Schools.

Willow Glen Ace Hardware has announced the results for 2008 of their “Make Cents for Public Schools” program.  The store would like to thank their many loyal customers for saying “no thanks, I don’t need a bag today” when one wasn’t necessary.  During 2008, 9.3 trees were saved in the Willow Glen Ace store alone!  When a customer doesn’t need a bag, the store donates a nickel to the Willow Glen public school that the customer chooses.  Supplemented by cash donations from customers, Willow Glen Ace will be donating $965.85 to local public schools.  A breakdown of the amount per school will be listed on the Willow Glen Ace website (www.willowglenace.com).

“We are thrilled by the level of support the program has received in our Willow Glen store” said proprietor Eric Hassett.   “It makes us proud to be part of this caring Willow Glen community.  We started the program in May, shortly after the store opened, and are truly humbled by the enthusiasm and commitment of the community.  We look forward to 2009 being an even bigger year for Cents for Public Schools”.

Saturday, March 7 the store will be holding a “Thank You Willow Glen” celebration from 1 – 5 p.m.  There will be double nickels, refreshments, and many thanks to the community from the Willow Glen staff.

Willow Glen Ace Hardware is a family-owned business.  Owner Larry Hassett and his sons, Eric and Richard, oversee three stores: Palo Alto Hardware, Ocean Shore Hardware in Half Moon Bay, and Willow Glen Ace.  The Cents for Public Schools program is active in all three stores.  During 2008 the three stores combined to donate $2641.50 to local public schools, and 30.4 trees were saved.
